The ISU Department of Public Safety is pleased to be able to offer Access Control and Security System advisory services to members of the ISU community. These services are provided by Captain Rob Bowers. The services available range from providing suggestions and input prior to the development of new construction projects and building remodeling projects to providing suggestions and ideas for the effective and efficient use of automated security systems in office and laboratory environments. Captain Bowers is available to meet with interested groups during the planning stages of any new development. Captain Bowers is also willing to serve as a member of your RFP review committee. The services offered are designed to provide assistance and advice to the project planners taking into account potential and known security or access control related concerns. The ideas presented during this process are based on the principles of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design. CPTED is geared towards using the naturally occurring environmental controls to enhance the security of the office and building environment. By using the environmental design process, security can be enhanced without projecting an outward appearance of a need for extra security. Throughout this process, our goal is to provide suggestions and advice to allow groups and individuals to make decisions that best meet their specific needs and circumstances.
These same principles can be utilized in the planning of how an office is organized. Therefore, the services are not limited only to areas of new construction or areas that are undergoing major remodeling.
Rob Bowers has completed the testing requirements and has received his designation as a Certified Protection Professional. The CPP certification program is administered by the American Society for Industrial Security. To receive the CPP designation, the applicant must pass an exam consisting of 225 questions.
