The Great Hero Hunt has begun!

Calling all potential heroes; we need your super powers of writing, juggling, flying, and artistic expression. Not quite a super hero at the flying? That's okay. We are looking for college students willing to step into hero-sized boots and create audio, video, and speeding bullet dialogue for the Ten Cent Hero Project.

Ten Cent Hero Story

Ten cents may not buy much anymore, but the choice is there to take what we have, and what we know, and save the day. The challenge is not just to survive, but thrive!

We are on the hunt for some of the best and brightest creative minds out there to tell the college life story.

Through images, text, audio, and video we want to share the typical college student lifestyle, from freshmen to seniors; networking, new sights, travel, technology, positive choices, and a positive outlook.

So, if you're willing to break out your own super hero identity and spend a solid 15-30 minutes a week making the world a better place, by telling us and rest of the world how great college life can be, we want to hear from you!

The Power of Story

Being able to tell a story and make it interesting.

Mastering the power of story may inspire friends and peers to get involved in their college experience, and it may help in your job search. The ability to sit with confidence and tell the stories of your life that relate to why you're the best person for the job. The magic is in the details!

The Ten Cent Hero Blog is a digital storytelling project.
Ten Cent Heroes are college students connected by common purpose, location, and time. Our purpose is to look at our environment, how we move from place to place, and our actions within the framework of alcohol use or nonuse. Our location is Iowa and the time is 2009.

College is an amazing place. There are a thousand ways to get involved, or not; hundreds of people to talk to, or not. Whether you're an introvert or extrovert your college experience has or will be affected by the people you come in contact with.

What so many may not realize until after they graduate is that the people are the memories you'll take from college. It's not the parties every weekend. It's the all-nighters with friends during finals week, your roommate talking you through a breakup, or the 2 am food run after your intramural broomball game.

Having a support system around you can make the road you're traveling a little smoother, a little clearer.
