Crime statistics in the links below were compiled by the ISU Department of Public Safety. The Clery statistics are also published in department’s annual newsletter, Safety & You. The Department of Public Safety prepares this publication annually for all students and employees at Iowa State University. Inside you will find campus crime statistics for the past three years as well as safety-related policies and procedures. Information is prepared in accordance with the Student Right-to-Know and Campus Security Act of 1990 (the Clery Act). While we believe ISU is a safe community, no campus is completely crime-free. With this publication, we hope to help you make informed choices about your safety.

This chart includes offenses that are compiled as required in the provisions of the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. The figures depicted include offenses that were reported to law enforcement agencies including the ISU Department of Public Safety, Ames Police Department and Story County Sheriff’s Office. In addition the university collects information from campus officials with substantial responsibility for campus life (primarily through the Dean of Students and Department of Residence). DPS monitors criminal activity reported to local police that may affect off-campus locations owned or controlled by officially recognized student organizations. Criminal activity for these locations is also included in this report. These statistics do not include privileged counseling or medical information from the Student Counseling Service or Student Health Center. Iowa State University does not have a voluntary confidential reporting procedure for crime statistics.
