Choices!

Everyday we are faced with hundreds of choices. Whether you realize it or not each choice you make influences what happens to you later that day, week, month, or even year. Some choices may be simple like what to eat, what to do this weekend, or when to study. Other choices may affect the rest of your life.

Choosing a major is one of the biggest choices you will make while in college.
Your major can determine how long you'll be in college and what you'll do afterwards. Even if you change your mind a couple of times, don't worry. What it comes down to is you deciding what is best for you and what will make you happy in the long run.

Another huge choice is whether or not to drink. Once again, you're faced with the task of deciding what is best for you. Should I drink this weekend or not? If I do, will I drink in moderation and with whom? Drinking is an individual choice that can have community consequences.

Only you can decide what to do or what not to do.
Remember, every choice you make affects your future and who you are. We make choices everyday. They've defined our pasts and will determine our futures.

Just showing up...
Just doesn't cut it

Deciding whether to go to your classes is a decision you have full responsibility to make at college. There are no detentions or scoldings, but you are there to get an education. College is an amazing time of social events, new experiences, and learning, in and out of the classroom. You need to decide what you want to get out of college.

You’d be amazed at the amount of satisfaction a good grade on a test or being able to hold an intelligent conversation with a professor can bring. If you want to learn, you will learn. If you think you have better things to do than go to your classes, you will find out that college will be harder than you thought.

An education is also about expanding your horizons and experiences. Some classes are boring, but they are there for a reason. Rarely do people get where they want to be by skipping class, drinking, and watching TV. Make decisions that will help you now and in the future. Find things and people that motivate you and can keep you going during the late nights before finals.

How much are you paying for your college education?

Tuition - Books and Supplies - Mandatory Fees - Room and Board
Personal Expenses - Transportation

What could you buy with that money?
A car? A tropical vacation with a seaside view? You have chosen to spend the money on an education. Do you feel you’re getting your money’s worth? If not, you should probably review the way you’ve been living and find out how to get more for your buck.
