Workshops

When people work on a project together, friendships form, new skills are developed, and some might find their life's direction. Group projects can put people in contact with others they may not otherwise get to know or opportunities they may not otherwise have. In your community are there traffic safety issues that need to be addressed? What risky behaviors are young drivers and riders engaging in?

The Get A Grip Program will be sponsoring Drive-Ride Leadership Workshops during August-November 2008 for Iowa high school students who have the potential to be leaders, but have not had the opportunity.

Get A Grip sponsored workshops with Bill Cordes:

  1. August 13-14, 2008: South Hardin Regional Workshop
  2. August 28, 2008: Gladbrook-Reinbeck High School
  3. September 11, 2008: Woodbine High School

Peer Educators

The Get A Grip Program is looking for high school peer leaders; students who will both lead by example as well as help create change through contributions to local clubs and media campaigns. Get A Grip would like to work with a core student group from your school to help develop a traffic safety message for teens.

High school will fly by and in a short time friends and classmates will be heading off to work and college and a few driving reminders now could make a big difference in the quality of the years ahead. Teens know their community and their voice can make a difference!
